After waiting my entire life to visit Iran I finally went last November. Not fully knowing what to expect, I was blown away by the enormous amount of hospitality and generosity I encountered. Not to mention the family members I never knew I had. It was an amazing experience which I'll never forget. The west couldn't be more wrong with their representation of Iran being a nation full of Islamic fundamentalists. The majority of people I came across, both family and non family members, were happy relaxed people who did not seem to be too bothered about religion. It was sad to see a nation which at one time would have been a fantastic place to be brought up in but is now being oppressed by a government that does not make allowances for a free life. The government in Iran do not represent the Iranian people. I want more than anything for the west to realize this. If you speak up against the Islamic regime you risk going to prison or in some cases execution. My goal is to find art that speaks to people in America, Britain, Iran and all over the world. The revolution has destroyed the peoples spirits and everyday life and I feel it's something the whole world should know. Please feel free to share your comments or even your art!
